As a fellow creative, I know how hard it is to keep your mind inspired during this period of uncertainty. With many businesses losing income and people’s livelihoods at risk, it’s important to keep active and maintain a positive outlook. That’s why I’ve put together some of my home-grown tips to keep you on your toes and creating throughout the year.
1.Take creative walks
Be mindful; flood your mind with nature and the fresh air. Allow yourself to be inspired by the world around you and take a moment to pause. I often find the best ideas come to me when I stop for a bit and that time is always paid off in the long-run.
- Network
We’re all in this together! Let’s support each other and create amazing ideas- after all, two minds are better than one. Take this moment to reach out to those you wouldn’t usually talk to. Try getting perspectives from different sectors that can both give you new ideas and a sense of the way forward.
- Learn different skills
Try that new thing you always wanted to do, but never had the time to! No one expects you to become an expert overnight, but by trying new things you are ever expanding your skills bank. Invest in new hobbies to further your understanding.
- Be Flexible
It’s really important to define your USP, but in a time of fierce competition, being an all-round-creative isn’t such a bad thing. Having two related skills vs. one can give you that competitive advantage to keep clients.
- Innovate, innovate, innovate
We must adapt our practice to suit the current climate. Start brainstorming and testing new ways to provide your service. What problem could you solve for your customers?
Overall, stay present.
There’s no use in reminiscing, now is the time to innovate and navigate our way through new times. Let’s stay positive and connected- life evolves and we continue to adapt!
